As soon as I found out Mum was taking ME to the Prince concert (thanks to the generosity of a fellow fan we met at the Brisbane concerts in ’12) I kept telling her that I was going to meet Prince.  Well, at the ’12 concerts I met Shelby J, The Twins (Maya & Nandy McClean, John Blackwell, and said ‘Hi’ to Ida Nielsen – so of course I think I’m going to meet the man himself!  (I’ll write about our ’12 experience in another post.)

It was so unbelievable what happened! We didn’t begin the night at the front row of the theatre (that story will come later – our ticketed seats were upstairs, 2nd back row of the theatre!) but I was dancing away to the funky music at this once-in-a-lifetime event when Prince started singing “Kiss”.. He sang

“You don’t have to be beautiful
To turn me on
I just need your body baby
From dusk till dawn”

Then he misses his next line because he’s watching me dance!

He got up from the Piano, stopped playing, and walked over to me, reached down and lifted me on to stage with his own bare hands.

The crowd went WILD!

THEN I started dancing when he started the song again and they go CRAZY LOUD WILD!

I danced like I’ve never danced before, and the looks on Prince’s face were priceless – he was obviously enjoying my company on stage.  At one point when I went behind him to dance he turned around to kept an eye on me near the candelabras set up with candles on stage.

He has a beautiful chuckle in his voice when he changed the lyrics from “I think I wanna dance” to “I think HE wants to dance!”

When the song was finished he motioned with his eyes and a tilt of his head that it was time for me to leave the stage… he got up from the piano, gave me a high five and I hopped off.  The crowd went wild again!

Everyone around me was congratulating and hugging and high fiving me.  I felt amazing!

He then played a really long version of Purple Rain (one of my favourite songs) and left the stage with his cane at the end of the concert.

Leaving the theatre, and standing out the front, everyone was coming up to me telling me how awesome I was and getting pictures with me.  One lady said she just wanted to touch me!  I felt like a real celebrity!

Later I was interviewed by Michelle who runs the Prince Worldwide Fan Club on Facebook and my interview has had more than 2000 views already! You can watch it here on YouTube:

Now – if only we could get a picture or video of me dancing on stage… that would be cool!  Prince is releasing a Tour book soon….maybe I’ll be in that?! Mum said a photographer (Justine Walpole?) was there taking pics so hopefully I’ll get to see something soon!

I REALLY want to go to the Perth concerts, but Mum’s broke from taking us to the Sydney concerts.  I’m lucky enough already I guess.

Thanks to everyone who came up to me on the night – you all made me feel like a million bucks!  But most of all thanks to Prince! I will NEVER forget my moment with you.

Off to dance lessons and back to reality now.

Setlist thanks to PrinceVault
